Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Crash View ("we", "us", "our") operates the website https://crashview.co.uk. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you visit our site.
2. Data we collect
We may collect the following information:
- Account information – name and email address when you register or sign up for closure alerts.
- Alert preferences – the roads, directions and site areas you ask us to watch, your quiet hours, and a record of which alerts we've sent you.
- Pro work – the collision studies you save (areas, filters and results) and the exports you download.
- Payment information – subscriptions are processed securely by Stripe. We keep your Stripe customer reference, plan and the last four digits of your card; we never see or store full card details.
- Usage data – pages visited, browser type, device type and IP address, collected via server logs and analytics tools.
- Cookies – small text files stored on your device to improve your experience (see Section 6).
3. How we use your data
We use collected data to:
- Provide and maintain the service.
- Process subscriptions and deliver Pro features, reports and exports.
- Send the road closure alerts and "closures tonight" emails you ask for.
- Analyse site usage to improve content and performance.
- Send service-related communications (e.g. receipts, trial reminders and alert confirmations).
- Contact businesses that may find Pro useful (see "Business outreach" below).
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process personal data under one or more of the following bases: performance of a contract (e.g. providing a subscription or the alerts you asked for), legitimate interests (e.g. improving the site), consent (e.g. optional cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.
Business outreach. We sometimes email companies, such as transport planning consultancies, at addresses they publish on their own websites, to tell them about Pro. We rely on legitimate interests, contact only companies (not individuals' personal addresses), say why we're writing, and include a one-click opt-out in every message. Opting out adds your address to a suppression list so we never contact it again.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Stripe – payment processing and invoices.
- Brevo – delivery of account and alert emails.
- Google Analytics / Ezoic – website analytics and advertising.
Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and data processing terms.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences, including a small
cv_adfree cookie that tells your browser not to load adverts when you're on a paid plan.
Third-party analytics and advertising partners may also set cookies. You can control cookie preferences
through your browser settings.
7. Data retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Unconfirmed alert sign-ups are deleted after 14 days and records of sent alerts after 90 days. Usage logs are retained for up to 26 months. Business outreach records are deleted after 12 months without a reply, except opt-outs, which we keep so we never contact that address again. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Data portability.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
9. Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption and secure password hashing. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Contact us
If you have questions about this privacy policy or your personal data, please contact us at [email protected].
